Impossibles 2008. Anyone who was in Jbay during July will attest to the excellence of Impossibles this year. All images Kelly Cestari
2005. For the life of me I cannot remember this guys name, all I know is he is from CT and had a good style on his backhand.
2006. Another unknown but I recall this grom being pretty impressive, now 3 years down the line he should be bigger and better
Clayton 2007. I remember this clearly because I was sick with what I assumed was Malaria after a trip to Mozam and Clay had the same bug but soldiered through for a surf.
Luke Egan 2005. Egan doesn’t make the event decisions in Jbay but sometimes I’m sure he coerces Snips into calling it off for a little free session
Simon Barrat 2008. Shortly after this photo Barrat injured himself and was out the water. Again this year he did the same thing without even surfing.
Greg Emslie 2005. This was my first fisheye session at Supers and I don’t think I’ve ever done another.
Greg Emslie 2006. The early morning backlit Supers photos have been inspired by Greg Ewing, his photo of Parko is the yard stick by which to measure your efforts.
Alan Van Gysen 2007. Billabong/July/Jeffreys/Top Surfers all lure SA’s top photogs from their homelands
Greg Ewing 2007. I recall having a discussion with The Sheriff in 2005 (it could be in 2006) about the validity of digital photography.
Ace Buchan 2008. This was the day before the events window period started, it was the best in the whole 2 weeks
Mick Fanning 2006.This single frame is what started me shooting all virtually impossible sequences up till the end. I stopped shooting 4 frames in and Mick ended standing up in the wash.
Shaun Payne 2007. This was shot with a housing I made myself. Out the water it felt like, in the water I needed two hands to hold it up. Used once and never again
Darryn Mountford 2005. My first ever photo published was in the “Shot Bru” back in 1997/8 of my good friend Darryn, it was with a disposable film camera
Taylor Knox 2007. After the event Jeffreys fired for two weeks straight while I went inland to shoot motocross.
Kelly Slater 2005. Thank goodness you can fix your mistakes with digital, I used to be in the habit of setting the color temperature and completely blew it. Lucky I could save it.
