A solid sw swell of around 15 seconds at 5-6 meters with a light South East wind and a sucking and then pushing tide on Saturday provided another weekend of good waves for the Dungeon crew.
The usual suspects preferring to paddle rather than town. Jake Kolnik and Mike Schlebach started early with a bit of towing and that had the crew excited for a bit but then the decision to paddle surfaced and suddenly the skis were moored off into the channel. It was a large playing field with very shift peaks. The ous had to paddle a lot and missed a lot of the good ones. Perhaps towing would have led to more waves being ridden. Never the less some good waves were paddled into. The lack of wind made for some very clean wave faces although the swell was broken up somewhat and not as clean as expected.
Simon, Andy, Jaques, Slang, Schlebach, Futter and various other characters enjoyed a good morning of Dungeons before the afternoon started to slow things down a bit with a fuller tide.
All over the Cape Penisula this week the waves have been cranking with loads of spots going off. The winter has started very well with frequent power packed cold fronts lashing the Cape of storms and bringing with them heaps of grinding surf.

So right now, South Africa's only other Professional surfer on Tour stares upwards into the face of the Mid-year cut-off. Travis must be a nervous guy. One heat. One heat at Teahupoo. He has to make this heat, or it's all over. Should Travis come second in his next 30 mins of surfing, he will be officially relegated back to the QS. What does this mean? Well for a start, it means no more guaranteed... <more>
