The Breakfast Project
There are children who need your help right now. TheBOMBsurf have teamed up with Future Life, the amazing immune boosting energy meal that has become popular with surfers and other athletes, to launch an initiative aimed at feeding 62 children at an orphanage/boarding school near the South African and Mozambican border. And not far from the world-class point break of Ponta do Ouro.
Our objective is to raise enough Future Life for each of the 62 children at the Mamoli Mission to have at least one bowl everyday – for the next year. They are currently operating on a food budget of around R4/child/day. Once our little initiative kicks in, the idea is that despite the myriad challenges they face, at least they’ll start each day on the right foot.
I recently visited the Mamoli Mission, which was a humbling experience to say the least. Not more than 20kms from a world-class point break exists this brave little effort in the bush. No electricity, no running water, not enough beds, no toilets for the girls...yet there still exists a feisty spirit and a successful operation with real potential. They make their own bread; they’re developing their own veggie gardens, making extraordinary recycled paper/envelopes and greeting cards out of elephant dung; and are wizards at beadwork and making fashion bags out of grain/flour sacks.
The reality though is that these kids are malnourished and in many cases suffering the effects of compromised immune systems. They need help and they need it now.
We’ve been enjoying the wave resources of southern Moz for years and feel compelled to try and help a little and give something back to the impoverished people of this beautiful area, hence our approach to making this happen.
Paul Saad, the MD of Future Life, has very generously agreed to match in donations everything that theBOMBsurf can raise. By Paul’s calculations, we need to raise about R25K from our readership to make this possible. He will then match that with R25K’s worth of product. Once combined, it will ensure that each child starts the day with a bowl of Future Life – for a year. I think everyone who has ever used Future Life will understand the potentially positive impact this will have on a malnourished child, so this is how we’re going to do it…
We are making 1 box (one week); 4 box (one month); 26 box (six months); and 52 box (one year) purchase donations available off theBOMBsurf e-commerce store.
Please support the initiative – a very small difference to you could end up making a huge impact to these children.
Many thanks and may you be karmically blessed with good surf for supporting this initiative!
