started shooting surfing in 2009 when a friend of mine from the USA asked me to do a few surfing pics of him...I had always been extremely keen on my photography before then ,but had not really done too much surfing photography...I grew up in Durban and spent most of my spare time on the beach , and my interest in surfing began in the early 70's when I met the guys who surfed at Bay and was warmly accepted by them...we have all been life long friends ever since. I spent a long time away from the beach raising my two children , Christopher and Catherine, and after my project in 2009 I was hooked...I was down there every day and it changed my life and helped me get through a very difficult period of my life...the amazing feeling of looking through my lens at the sea gave me an overwhelming sense of peace and belonging ....and then it was the birds and the dolphins and every tiny creature I could find on days when the surf wasn't happening...Today I have a small studio at home and have moved closer to the beach and still spend every moment I can down at the beach shooting all the friends I have made...my photography has changed my life and allowed me to become the person I think I was meant to be...
