Who Blew Up

1. Winner.

Adriano De Souza

Good form, good speeches and generally well-behved and devoid of claiming. As kai Linder pointed out, ADS was under radar for the entire event, except for the final

2. Dale Staples .

Highest placed South African in the event, defeating John John in the process and showing good form and plenty of hunger. That's we want to see - hunger.

3.   Bruce Gold.

Has no real interest in surf contests and has no real interest in rubbing shoulders with anyone, preferring to walk along the water's edge looking for interesting shells, not even looking up when the crowd went mad with screaming and shouting and vuvuzelas for incredible rides. Totally focused on shells, totally indifferent to the event.

And Who Blew It?

  1.   Dale Staples.

He beat John John Florence, but with seconds counting down and with priority, Dale paddled down to sit on John John and then proceeded to give the first wave to him as the rest of the beach looked on in shock. It ended well, as John John didn't get the required score, but a few people couldn't understand the tactic at all.

  2. The online haters. Again

After sending incredible abuse across the platforms to the Billabong staff as a result of the webcast not running on day one, they all turncoated and started complimenting Billabong and webcast crew and generally being nice. Thing is, first impressions count, therefore you guys suck.

   3. Jordy Smith.

We wanted him to win his hat trick. He wanted to win his hat trick. Lyndall, Gee and Lu wanted him to win his hat trick. Huey, Mother Nature, and Father Time were having none of it.

With all due respect Jarv, the forecast had looked insane for over a week before the event, what exactly was the reason for not being live on day 1 of the event? and from what i heard day 2 webcast only came together after a mad scramble because of the monday abuse. Press releases were going out building the hype of the super swell for several days before the event, and then nobody could see it, of course people are going to throw toys... webcast are not a privilege anymore, rather a mandatory part of an international event.

Simmo also with all due respect - 1. Webcasts have to fit into a budget. you should know that, so i'm not going to insult your intelligence there. 2. webcasts are not mandatory. they are not part of a contract, they are a free privilege. no one pays a brand to watch a webcast 3. WCT events get webcasts. Most prime events get webcasts. not all 6-star events get webcasts. again, depends on budgets. 4. There wasn't a mad scramble on day 2. 5. In the current situation of an ongoing GFC, these things are going to happen.... until the new webcast umbrella deal kicks off. but you never heard that from me. 6. haters gonna hate. yo.

The web casting for a former WCT event should not be compromised regardless of the budget! Its the best way to showcast the brand value to an event....especially since J Bay delivered and all the contestant said was the best surf. ever...just no excuse is acceptable! If it was not for the enterainment value that webcasting offers many would have not interest in pro surfing ....and certainly don't want to pay for it!

yeah i was wrong but the most part of the video isnt the final day, and i dont remenber very well all the waves of that day but, the trikcs of the final i think that there're only two, 1 big turn performed by dane and the superman, and the final day wasn't so big
