Surf Alerts

Durbs small and sunny, Cape Town stormy but with loads of swell.

29/04/2012

30 April - 7 May
DBN: A beautiful week weather wise in Durbs but not much swell is going to get into the Bay, you might fare better on the coast at exposed spots.
COFFEE BAY: Apart from an onshore blast on Wed, Coffee Bay has super fun waves all week.
EL: Tues, Sat and Sunday should be pretty decent.
PE: Keep an eye on next weekend especially Saturday when the swell may wrap into the bay.
CT: Tues, Wed, Friday, Sat and Sunday all have great waves! Woohoo a great week of surf in the Mother City.

Yeah these guys are definitely pros, I would be wnillig to bet each of them could hold their breath for over 5 minutes and swim faster than just about anyone!

Winter beckons as a cold front moves up the East Coast on Monday.

22/04/2012

23 April - 30 April
DBN: Monday, Tues and Wed are all going to have decent waves in town. Wednesday may also be fun on both the North and South coasts.
COFFEE BAY: Tuesday and next Saturday are going to be the days in the Land of milk and honey.
EL: Solid on Monday and Tuesday, probably too big for the better known spots you may want to go off the beaten track a bit to find somewhere a bit more sheltered.
PE: Monday and early Tuesday looks like the berries, enjoy!

CT: Monday is the day, you are going to need to move fast because after this it’s pretty much gone all week.

I've been keeping my winitrg within Dropbox folders these days. Between working on items on my laptop, editing on my pc, or just proof reading on my phone, it's worked out well for me. Scrivner's been working fine setup in this manner as well so long as I close the related files on the PC before opening on the laptop.

Durban and Coffee Bay in for excellent surf this week.

15/04/2012

16 April - 23 April
DBN: Fun surfable waves all week in DBN. Tuesday - Saturday there are gonna be some cookers esp with the low tide in the morning! Great week of surf ahead for Surf City.
COFFEE BAY: The Capital of the parallel universe has waves everyday this week ranging from decent to excellent except next Sunday which is onshore. The onshore will be a relief because by then the boys will be properly broken!
EL: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are the days all offering up great surf options for the frothing crew of Slummies rippers.
PE: Monday and maybe Tuesday will be the best bet in the Windy City this week.
CT: Monday is the day with Wednesday working as a nice backup at the SE friendly beachies.

I love your trend bible especially linvig in a sometimes isolated South Africa. Could you please tell me where to get the pink cutout porcelain bunny plate on your Golden Days write-up under your Kids Trends Spring/Summer 2012? I would so appreciate this info.Kind RegardsMarina

I can't believe I've been going for years without konwnig that.

Durban feels the big chill and Coffee Bay fires Tues-Thurs while the rest of the country is so so this week in Surf Alerts.

09/04/2012

9 April - 16 April
DBN: Winter arrives in Durban this week with freezing overnight temperatures and small but strong offshore conditions Monday to Friday. Wednesday is the day between the piers.

COFFEE BAY: Tuesday to Thursday fires, but then a bout of onshore arrives for the weekend.

EL: Thursday morning early is the day.

PE: The best bet is Tuesday, but unfortunately all the wind and weather doesn’t produce much else this week.

CT: Maybe a little something on Wednesday, but it looks pretty shabby until next Monday to be honest.

Hey, Glen twittered you back and loved your voeisrn of High Hopes ! I'm in Austin too and was at Paramount gig. I lived in Dublin from 99 to 2005 and am a huge Frames fan. Seen them and Swell Season every show they've done in Austin since 2005. You must be stoked to get that recognition. Well done!

In the early week Durban rocks in some leftover SE swell and light winds, while later in the week Cape Town gets some solid SW groundswell with plenty of options.

2 April - 9 April
DBN: Monday, Tuesday early, Thursday and Friday early could all have some pretty fun surf options, not a bad week for surf in Surf City.
COFFEE BAY: Super fun smallish but clean waves Monday to Thursday. Friday and Sat the onshore is going to force the patrons back into the Buffalo Bar at the Coffee Shack. You can’t always surf 7 days a week but you can sure as hell try!
EL: The early part of the week is small with light winds, so if you know where to go you’ll find surf. Then Thursday morning could be interesting as the swell builds, you just have to make sure you get it before that looming onshore.
PE: This is an interesting one as you get a decent dose of southerly ground swell on Thursday and Friday, but the winds are going to be that damned devil wind northerly. If you know where to go there could be some interesting options.
CT: Thursday, Friday and Sunday will all have decent options in some real Autumn groundswell.
