SODWANA
BAY:
Monday and Tuesday cook up in the KZN Bush.
DURBAN: After this weekend’s barrel fest this week boasts beautiful weather but very small waves all week. A great week to get in some surf swims and some bodysurf action with a WAWA handplane.
COFFEE BAY: Monday to Thursday it is peachy!
EAST LONDON: Wednesday and Thursday are the days this week in Slummies.
PORT ELIZABETH: This is a great week for catching up on work, playing golf, breath hold training, riding your long board, pretty much anything but surfing.
CAPE TOWN: After the bonanza run of early winter swell this is a great week to catch up with work as frankly there is very little on offer.

Cape Town shrugs off Summer with back to back swells...

SODWANA
BAY:
Tuesday morning is fun, then Good Lord, but Sat and Sunday are about as good as they can get up in the KZN Bush!
DURBAN: Monday should be fun in town. Keep an eye open in the latter part of the week as there could be a few cold front surprises. Also remember Neville’s memorial at 7am on Friday at North Beach.
COFFEE BAY: Cooking, everyday this week as usual.
EAST LONDON: Shew mega swell in Slummies on Thurs and Fri this week, gonna have to look for those wrap around protected spots!
PORT ELIZABETH: Thursday could just be one of the best days you guys get all year! Some leftovers on Friday...
CAPE TOWN: Thursday and Friday there could be some serious options for the serious surfers who like to ride serious tubes!

A major swell hits Cape Town next Thursday, with waves spreading up both coasts over the weekend.

SODWANA
BAY:
Wednesday morning looks fun.
DURBAN: There are excellent banks all over the Durban beachfront so even though the swell will be small most of the week there should be something to ride most days. Bets bets Monday, Tues and Wed early.
COFFEE BAY: There are fun waves the whole week in Coffee Bay.
EAST LONDON: Monday cooks, then Friday and Sat it fires again. A cool double header for the slummies crew.
PORT ELIZABETH: Monday has waves then there is a decent chance that Friday and Saturday it is back on. Enjoy!
CAPE TOWN: After a beautiful swell on Saturday the Cape gives the boys a few days to rest up before the second major swell of the year smashes into the peninsula on Thursday. Friday will be huge and Saturday with have some solid leftovers. Don’t put those rhino-chasers away just yet boys it looks like you’ll be needing them again this week.

I'm going to be in EL for a weekend in May, and will have at least one board with me. Do any of you know anyone in EL who surfs, and who might be willing to give me some local advice on which spots to surf on those days, and maybe even be willing to tell me how to get there and/or act as a friendly guide?

Is it a phantom or the real deal?

SODWANA
BAY:
Tue-Fri cooks up in the KZN Bush.
DURBAN: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all look fun.
COFFEE BAY: Apart from Thursday and Friday there are cooking waves the whole week in the Kei.
EAST LONDON: Tuesday looks fun, but next Sunday could be epic.
PORT ELIZABETH: Don’t hold your breath, but the very long period in the swell next weekend could have some interesting effects at the odd exposed spot.
CAPE TOWN: A lacklustre week, but next weekend could see some serious action if the swell materialises, in which case you are going to need to dust off the rhino chaser as it could be a real one!

COFFEE BAY: Apart from Tuesday there are fun waves all week.
EAST LONDON: Monday, Friday and Sat all look pretty fun.
PORT ELIZABETH: Monday and Tuesday should be your best bets.
CAPE TOWN: Watch a sneaky little west swell on Wed, followed by 2 consecutive southerly pulses on Friday and Sunday.
