Portland been a few years since I lived there. I miss it. But I have traveled all over the US with work and with a cat-who-does-want-to-be-a-traveling. I stpepod reading for a few years but now I am back in with a mission. Am surrounded by books again many that have not been read but they will be. I love romance in all of its forms. Well, in most of its forms A little bit of mystery, humor, and some angst and I am there! I can do happy endings, sad tragic endings, nonmystery stories, comedy, noncomedy, angst, nonangst etc. The connection between two people and the secondary connections between us and those in our orbit are so beautiful. Cool. Even if it is fiction or escapist fiction it serves a needed purpose and somehow mirrors ourselves hopefully in a good way. They seem to fill me with hope and sometimes a needed carthartic cry or a safe way to release my pent-up angst. Thursday Earth Day I am off to my local BAM to buy my own copy of Flirting with Forty I scoped it out this weekend and have my coupons and all my potential books staked out for the Earth Day special. The way I am buying books right now begs for a strategy! Hope you enjoyed your time in Portland and had fun. I am glad that all your hard work has paid off and things are going well for you. Makes me happy to see others enjoying their lives and things going their way. I think that is way I always come back to your blod. Hi Taryn and welcome to the BOMBshell interview. When you think of surfing what is the very first thought that pops into your mind?

first thing when I think of surfing is waves. The forceful collision of water.

Lets talk swimwear on girls, what do think works well and what should be avoided at all costs?

Bikinis look great on girls, definitely avoid bikinis or costumes that are too small and things pop out:)

Boardshorts on guys, above or below the knee?

Boadshorts above the knee are cool.

If you are/were a surfer what surfboard would you/do you ride? An ancient Hawaiian hand made wooden Alaia, a cruisy fun colourful old school longboard or a modern high performance short board?

An ancient one:) preferably a long board. I love the shape of Long Boards, the way they casually glide over the water.

Lets talk epic beach party’s for a moment... A full moon rising over the sea, sundowners, a mellow jam session (who would be playing?), what would it take to escalate into the mother of all beach parties?

Jack johnson would definitely be playing, followed by some upbeat music. It would involve lots of dancing with my girls.

Skinny-dipping, yes or no?

oh most definably yes for skinny dipping with a bunch of girls on a deserted island. No boys allowed lol.

If you had the opportunity to spend time in the ocean with any sea creature what would it be and why?

I would love to be surrounded by little seahorses, they are so magnificent. Would love to just see them in their surrounding.

If you could make one contribution to help protect our marine and beach resources and preserve them for future generations what would it be?

Prevent sea pollution, definitely my number one concern. Recently saw this horrible photo of a sea turtle and its shell has been squashed by a piece of plastic.

Hi Little Harlequin and welcome to the BOMBshell interview. When you think of surfing what is the very first thought that pops into your mind?

I have a few thoughts that pop into my head simultaneously to be honest. I will usually already have my board at hand, thinking…

1. Finally I have time for myself!

2. What is the swell like today?

3. Did I pack my wetsuit, sun lotion and wax?

Lets talk swimwear on girls, what do think works well and what should be avoided at all costs?

Ha ha ha, Girls hey… you get two types of surfer girls in South Africa specifically. The one that is inexperienced, and the wise one.

·
Most inexperienced girls will go into ice cold water with their bikinis the first time (I think it is a show of thing as well as inexperience.) They will figure out within 10 seconds of touching the ocean that they need to wear more. Unless the water is seriously warm, in which case I’d say go for it…wear that sexy bikini and turn some heads!

· The wise one will wear a wet suit with a bikini under it in summer and winter. Considering that South African oceans are piss cold most of the time and that the sun burns you to ashes if you choose to wear less.

I speak from experience. I have started off surfing in bikini, usually lasted for maximum and hour before I would freeze, and only by the time I dried and warmed up I would realize how burned I was even with 50SPF water resistant sun lotion. Word of advice to all girls… Wear a good wetsuit and plenty of sun lotion if you want to tackle the waves.

Boardshorts on guys, above or below the knee?

Above the knees or knee length. It makes men look taller ;)

I love speed, so I would definitely go for a modern high performance short board.

Aaahh, This used to be my favorite part of a day back when I was a teenager and still nowadays.
Warm Sumer day beach party with some local well known tunes playing (Either chill, sole or trance), beers, cocktails and ciders all round, fire lights and the smell of braai or fried chips all around you. What would usually get the parties escalate are the wild drums. Man, there is nothing better than fire dancing at the beach, in full moon, to the rhythm of the wild African drum.

Skinny-dipping, yes or no?

If you had the opportunity to spend time in the ocean with any sea creature what would it be and why?

I have surfed and swam with dolphins before, which was super magical and fun. But in the end of the day I would really love to experience holding onto a blue wale and swimming with one or more.

If you could make one contribution to help protect our marine and beach resources and preserve them for future generations what would it be?

Man, if I was a billionaire, the first thing I would sort out are those horrible plastic islands in our oceans. They are growing larger and thicker by the day and NO ONE knows about them because they are miles into the ocean, accumulating and killing life. Thinking about it makes me want to cry.

Sorting out those plastic and oil islands means hitting the core of the cause… such as plastic factories, oil tankers etc, all mainly situated in China and America.

Deciding on a budget and finiurgg out how many flowers and/or decorations to buy. We literally sat down with pen and paper at one point drawing and designing what we thought would look best for the venue. That was a real pain and very exhausting.

Hi Collete and welcome to the BOMBshell interview. When you think of surfing what is the very first thought that pops into your mind?

I get a mini flashback of freezing my toes off in J-Bay during the on set filming of Blue Crush two. 8 hours of being in a bikini, pretending we were in a tropical South Africa with Sunny Skies and warm sea breezes…. Meanwhile about to turn into frosticles. But it was a fantastic experience and I met some wonderfully-crazy people.

Lets talk swimwear on girls, what do think works well and what should be avoided at all costs?

I Adore mono-kinis.. although they aren’t ideal for tanning they are so flattering on a woman. What doesnt do well… Im not a big fan of heavy jewelery and make-up on the beach. Theres nothing more beautiful to a man than a girl with a healthy sunkissed tan, curves and natural glowing ocean washed skin.

Boardshorts on guys, above or below the knee?
Above, nothing like a nice strong quad busting at the seams. I love a guy with good legs.

If you are/were a surfer what surfboard would you/do you ride? An ancient Hawaiian hand made wooden Alaia, a cruisy fun colourful old school longboard or a modern high performance short board?

Defininately a cruisy fun colourful old school long board, maybe with a waterproof radio with butterflies and sparkles… just kidding.

My favourites, old roger Goode and Verandah Panda…. They rock my socks…and loads of cocktails.. im a sucker for beautifully decorated drinks with dandy fruit displays on the side of my glass, colourful straws and cocktail umbrellas

Im still convinced when I swim I’m a mermaid ( I hope this is a girl magazine) haha, boys… don’t laugh, you never grow up either! Your toys just get more expensive lol

If you could make one contribution to help protect our marine and beach resources and preserve them for future generations what would it be?

I would help raise more awareness about The Penguin Conservation Centre (PCC) The Penguin Conservation Centre is known for its success in rehabilitating oiled African Penguins. The Centre is barely able to handle the large numbers of birds which arrive everyday and they could really use some extra help. Other than that, the way people pollute the ocean and our beautiful beaches. Everyone is too self absorbed in materialism and status to think about the future of the amazing beaches and ocean God has given us. Our decisions today affect our lives tomorrow.
