Hi Samantha and welcome to the BOMBshell interview. When you think of surfing what is the very first thought that pops into your mind?

Freedom!

Lets talk swimwear on girls, what do think works well and what should be avoided at all costs?
White on pale skin works well. Anything that is too busy or too bling should be avoided unless you are in the Middle East.

Boardshorts on guys, above or below the knee?
Either, it depends on the legs. I quite like below the knee if the guy is tall.

If you are/were a surfer what surfboard would you/do you ride? An ancient Hawaiian hand made wooden Alaia, a cruisy fun colourful old school longboard or a modern high performance short board?
That’s a tough one the old Hawaiian one or the high performance one depending on what matched the waves, my mood and my bikini on the day;)

Shew I love to party! I guess it would just take for the other guests to have as much enthusiasm and fun as I have and we’d set the night on fire!

Skinny-dipping, yes or no?

Yes!

If you had the opportunity to spend time in the ocean with any sea creature what would it be and why?

The Jaguar shark and The Rainbow Sea Horse from Wes Anderson’s movie ‘The Life Aquatic’. Dolphins are pretty magical too.

If you could make one contribution to help protect our marine and beach resources and preserve them for future generations what would it be?

I’d like to see people stop purging our ocean for commercial reasons whether it be depleting our fish stocks or drilling for oil, if it’s for money I’d put it all off limits. Life comes from the ocean and if we don’t protect that we’re going to be in deep trouble!

I do not know where you live, but im in Australia and my school fees so we pre-holidays. There is a sytesm where I can sign that will not be there (obviously) and they charge me half the price. Maybe ask your center of this? I know it sucks, but not much we can do. May change their days, public holidays generally fall on a Monday.

I personally prefer a boob tube bikini top with tie bottoms but I think it depends on your body shape and what you feel comfortable in. To avoid monokini’s unless you what an unusual tan!

Boardshorts on guys, above or below the knee?

above but not to short leave the hot pants to the girls…please!

If you are/were a surfer what surfboard would you/do you ride? An ancient Hawaiian hand made wooden Alaia, a cruisy fun colourful old school longboard or a modern high performance short board?

the cruisy fun colourful old school longboard for sure but will definitely give the Alaia a ride only if you paddle it out for me!

Lets talk epic beach party’s for a moment... A full moon rising over the sea, sundowners, a mellow jam session (who would be playing?), what would it take to escalate into the mother of all beach parties?

Bigger isn’t always better, as long as you have good tunes with good people so jamming would be Guy Buttrey and Nibs Van Der Spuy for an international flavor no doubt Mr Jack Johnson. All sitting round a big bonfire, banging on some jemby drums and swinging some fire poi. That for me would be the mother of all beach parties… simple, happy, hippy vibrations : )

Hi Emma and welcome to theBOMBshell interview. When you think of surfing what is the very first thought that pops into your mind?

Blue crush, palm trees and golden tans. I also imagine Hawaii and the locals.

Lets talk swimwear on girls, what do think works well and what should be avoided at all costs?

Full body suits should be avoided not only because of how they look, but the horrible tans you get with them. i personally feel that bikini's are personal just like lingerie, and should compliment you and tell everyone a little about yourself. Every bikini whether size or shape and colour create a different look and feel and that's why swimwear is so versatile. I definitely think if you have a lovely bum, then show it off in a Brazilian bikini.

Definitely Above the knee, i am loving the new vintage style of board shorts that is coming back into fashion for men. Women aren't the only ones with gorgeous legs, so men might as well show their calves off a little.

If you are/were a surfer what surfboard would you/do you ride? An ancient Hawaiian hand made wooden Alaia, a cruisy fun colourful old school longboard or a modern high performance short board?

I am a competitive person so would definitely like to progress onto a short board, but we all have to start somewhere so the long board will obviously be first inline. but if i had it my way, i would choose a short board with a sick-ass spray.

If i think of an epic beach party i think of the Full moon party in thailand, where everyone is dressed in beach gear and covered in lumo paint and raves their faces off to all sorts of music. I like a lot of music so for me it would be a combination. I would love a bonfire and definitely lots of malibu and sprite.

Yes but under the condition its with friends or my boyfriend.

I would have to say a big sea turtle. I think finding nemo just made them appear even cuter! to swim with them all day, hug their shell and explore the ocean with them.

Stop long-line fishing, its not natural and its killing our marine life. Also do yourselves a favour and watch The Cove, it puts lots into perspective.

The beautiful Durban weather all year round, our incredible beaches and of course gorgeous tanned bodies :)

Lets talk swimwear on girls, what do think works well and what should be avoided at all costs?

I’m a big believer in if you got it flaunt it, but in the same breath you need to wear something that is classy and that will flaunt all the best parts of your body in the right way. Big NO NO is the muffin tops and showing a little too much crack because your bikini is too small (some things are best left to the imagination) ;).

Boardshorts on guys, above or below the knee?

Definitely above the knee, nothing worse than a guy with two toned legs ;)

If you are/were a surfer what surfboard would you/do you ride? An ancient Hawaiian hand made wooden Alaia, a cruisy fun colourful old school longboard or a modern high performance short board?

A long board to save myself from the embarrassment of surfing a short board, I can at least stand up and surf a long board on small waves.

I would be on Clifton 3^rd beach in Cape Town summer time with my incredible friends dancing in the sand till the sun rise to Pascal and Pierce playing alongside Armin Van Buuren and Avicii. There would be endless Vodka, Jagermeister and Mojito’s - my 3 favorites :) and the most beautiful people would be there wearing nothing but their swim suits!;) Makes me excited thinking about it! :)

I would love to swim with sea turtles that would be my ultimate!

I would help clean up our beaches and try push to set more regulations in place about the litter that is affecting the marine life and I would create more awareness among the youth about the importance of preserving our beaches and marine.

(Moved here in '05, visited since '01, but I don't recall Hanalei having extensive coral reefs) Have you had the mud tested? Is there a direction correlation between the mud and infection?

(Moved here in '05, visited since '01, but I don't recall Hanalei having extensive coral reefs) Have you had the mud tested? Is there a direction correlation between the mud and infection?
