Hi Marike, welcome to theBOMBshell interview. Are you originally from Cape Town or do you just call it home for certain months of the year for work? I am originally from Cape Town and it’s always home in season time. I love it here! When season dies down at the end of April I travel to Europe for their season. December is always a busy time in CT, but doubly crazy for you because that is when the entire modelling world descends on the Mother City. Can you take us through a typical day in your life in season? I wake up pretty early, go work out - I do power yoga almost daily, then its time to shoot. If I’m not shooting then I will do all my castings for the day. At the moment I'm pretty busy shooting most days or filming for TV. After a long day I love to go lie on the beach for a bit if it is still possible and play some beach bats! After a hectic day at work what do you do to unwind? I do some yoga or go hike up lions head. I also enjoy walking along the beach! If it’s a beautiful evening I might go to Camps Bay and have a tea in one of the restaurants.

Where are the happening places in CT this summer? I love St Yves. Nisha in summer as it is open and in Camps Bay! I enjoy dinner at Grand Camps and also love el burro restaurant in Greenpoint! Caprice on a beautiful Sunday Is also always pleasant! What are your plans for next year, do you have anything exciting in the pipeline? I will be travelling after season in Cape Town most probably to Europe. My plans change all the time :) I do know I will be out and about travelling and discovering new places and people! Have you ever tried surfing before and what was it like? Yes I tried surfing when I was about 15! I could stand. I was pretty fine for an amateur ha ha! It was fun. Good balance definitely helps :)

Hi Hanri welcome to theBOMBshell interview, you grew up far from the sea yet now call Cape Town home and in fact when we chatted the other day you were far out to sea on a boat. What was that all about, are you a frequent sailor? Hahaha, no not that frequent. I just went for the day with a friend deep sea tuna fishing. It was soooo much fun... and a experience and a half! Closer to shore, what is it about the Cape beaches that you love? Definitely the white clean beaches with the sexy peeps(boys) on them..lol! Have you ever tried surfing and how did you find the experience? Well surfing behind a boat on a dam yes..that was an experience, also I tried some wakeboarding which was loads of fun.

As a model you get to travel quite a bit outside of SA. Outside of SA where are your favourite places to travel to and why do you enjoy going there so much? I’ve been to quite a few different countries, not all for modelling though. I definitly love London, good shopping.. and also some close family there. New York is on my list for next year! I see that in one of your pictures you are posing with a board shaped by the colourful local Cape Town surfboard shaper and surfing personality, Dutchie. Do you know him or have you ever met him? No I haven’t met him yet, but hopefully I will sometime soon! What is it about SA at this time of year that you love most? Well this time of the year, its almost my birthday which is a bonus and also the promise of a new year to come which is full of new excitement and surprises.... Hehe.

Hi Athalia and welcome to the BOMBshell interview. We know that you now live in Cape Town, but you are originally from a klein dorpie Northwest of JHB called Fochville. How does life in CT compare to life in Fochville? Hi John, thanks for having me, it's nice to be here. Yes, Fochville is indeed a very small town. Life here in CT is so different compared to how it was back home. CT is so chilled and it has got the most amazing vibe that made me feel right at home. As a model what do you do when you encounter shoots that are difficult either because you are working with an incompetent photographer or a client who doesn’t know what they want? I immediately sum up the vibe of the situation and work around what I can influence. Usually it's easy to tell if a person is outgoing (which helps a lot to make a model feel welcome and comfortable) or if the photographer just does their own thing. You also just have to relax and live in the moment We don’t know too many of our BOMBshells that are keen fisher(wo)men, but we have it on good advice that you are quite handy with a rod. How did you get into fishing and where is your favourite place to fish? Well I must admit that I am about the only girl I know that wouldn't mind challenging a guy to a fishing competition ha-ha. I have got two older brothers who absolutely love to fish and as a kid my parents would take us fishing on family holidays, so fishing has always been a part of my life. I like to go both deep-sea fishing and to catch from the beach. It's easier and at the same time you have the chance to catch an amazing tan.

In a previous discussion you said you like to walk a lot. You do it to stay in shape and you do it as a form of recreation around CT. Do you think that being a small town girl allows you to enjoy the simple pleasures of life more? Yes definitely, I love being outside and taking in as much of mother nature as I can. Next year you start studying a B.Com. If you could flash 10 years into the future where would you like to be? I see myself as a successful, independent businesswoman whom isn’t scared of taking on challenges.
